Switch Toy Access Program

Thank you for your interest in the Switched Toys Access Program. Our goal is simple: to get adapted toys into the hands of individuals who need them most. Because our toys are modified by volunteers and inventory is limited, this application serves as our waitlist. We review every application, and when an adapted toy becomes available that matches your specific needs, we will reach out to you directly!

We want to ensure these specialized toys reach individuals who truly rely on switch-adapted technology. While we believe all children deserve to play, we kindly ask that you only apply if the child meets the following criteria.

This program is specifically designed for:

  • Children with physical mobility limitations who rely on external accessibility switches (such as a Jelly Bean, Buddy Button, or head switch) for play.

This program is NOT intended for:

  • Individuals who have the fine motor control to operate standard toys, even if they prefer sensory-friendly options.
  • Use in a hospital, therapy, healthcare, or educational setting. This application is strictly for individuals and families. (Institutions are welcome to purchase adapted toys directly through our store.)

"My child has autism. Is this toy right for them?” It depends entirely on their physical mobility! Our toys are specifically rewired for children who experience physical, motor-control limitations that prevent them from operating standard toys. If your child has full physical mobility but benefits from toys for cognitive, behavioral, or sensory support, standard retail toys are the best fit. Our adaptations require specialized physical accessibility hardware to run.

Terms and Conditions

Please review the following policies regarding our modified toys.

  1. Cost & Availability: These toys are provided free of charge, though you may be asked to cover shipping costs. Completing this application does not guarantee you will receive an adapted toy. Toys are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis as inventory becomes available.
  2. Hardware Requirement: I understand that this toy has been physically modified from the original manufacturer's design to add switch accessibility. Due to these alterations, the toy's original buttons and activation methods may no longer function. An external 3.5mm accessibility switch is strictly required to operate this toy. If I did not request a switch in this application, I confirm I already own the necessary hardware to use it.
  3. Safety & Liability Warranty: These toys have been manually modified from their original factory conditions by volunteers to alter the internal wiring. Switched Adapted Toys makes no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the durability or functionality of the modified electronics. By accepting this toy, the applying parent or guardian assumes all risks and liabilities associated with the individual's use of the toy. Adult supervision is strictly required at all times.
  4. Non-Resale Agreement: These toys are provided for personal use only and shall not be sold or redistributed for profit under any circumstances. When the individual outgrows the toy or it is no longer needed, it may be returned to Switched Adapted Toys or donated directly to another individual in need.
